Days of Heaven (Terrence Malick, 1978) Shot entirely at the "magic hour", this lovers' tragedy is bathed in golden twilight and grounded by a world-weary child's narration. In the era when Shahrukh khan's over-acting is considered 'thrilling' and rated as top-notch by the Karan Johar circus... this movie proves that this new actor has the acting skill and confidence to make these over-hyped Khans run for their money. This movie respects audience's intelligence and does not pursue the lowest common denominator by adding stupidly choreographed 'balle balle' songs. This movie is about reality, it is about death and it is about the brutal war for survival. It is imaginative enough that doesn't bore the audience with obvious and unnecessary dialogue and director's clever use of music focuses on character's emotions and the underlying fear that governs everyone's behavior. See this movie and compare it with the more 'mainstream' family oriented movies and you will see why RGV is one of the best director in the industry.Chunky Pandey sprung a pleasant surprise by his good goon act who is bumped off by his adversaries. Isha Koppikar was convincing as his love interest. Rukhsar, who had disappeared after appearing in a couple of movies like Inteha Pyar Ki (1992) and Yaad Rakhegi Duniya (1992), impressed big time as the Bollywood heroine who falls for D.

Until the release in 1998 of Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day was for many years the D-day film. Based on a book by Cornelius Ryan and featuring a who’s who of contemporary movie celebrities (including Richard Burton, Robert Mitchum, Sean Connery and John Wayne), the scope of the film – which focuses specifically on June 6 itself – is almost as vast as the original D-day operation.Starring Michael Caine in his final film role, this production is based on the real tale of Royal Navy veteran Bernard Jordan who famously broke out of his care home in June 2014 to attend the 70th anniversary D-day commemorations in Normandy. Interestingly, another film released the very same year and starring Pierce Brosnan, The Last Rifleman, was also inspired by “Bernie’s” great escape. Randeep Hooda in "D." Photo: RGV Film Company, 2005. ... While I’m not really a big fan of mob films, I couldn’t pass up a movie with Randeep Hooda in it since he is one of the most bankable actors in Bollywood right now.Another reason that made me check out “D” was a compelling scene that sent chills down my spine when I first saw it, and which immediately had me hooked on this crime thriller by Ram Gopal Varma, an Indian filmmaker much revered for his penchant for bringing the tales of the Mumbai underworld to the big screen (the directorial reigns of “D”—the third and last of the ‘Gangster Trilogy’—are handed over to debutant director Vishram Sawant, who does a good job with the material). This scene involves our protagonist Deshu (played by Randeep Hooda) traveling by the local train one night, when out of the blue, he witnesses a man being pushed out of the moving train by an unknown person and onto the tracks (possibly to his death).Estranged from his father who is a policeman, and finding nobody to turn to after he witnesses a gang murdering one of his neighbors, Deshu accidentally finds himself embroiled in the toxic underworld himself. What I felt worked best in this movie’s favour is Srikanth Naroj’s cinematography—especially the Dutch angles and intense close-up shots—which are utilised very well, especially the scenes that are meant to shock viewers and lend tension and the right gritty and chilling atmosphere to the film.Something else that “D” benefits from is a compelling performance by Randeep Hooda as Deshu. Even though the actor was still a newcomer back in the early 2000s, he carries this movie on his shoulders, effortlessly portraying a range of emotions from a stoic and simple young man to a powerful and brutish gangster.

This blows my previous review about watching "reading movies" right out of the water. Hillarious in it's sameness to all the other Bollywood gangster movies I've seen. Gangster is hard and cold, falls in love, kills people haphazardly. The most hillarious thing was that they actually managed to fit 2 dancy singys in - when they absolutely didn't fit. This movie's only saving grace, for me, was that they would show about 5 mins of a conversation, and then show another 5 mins of the ppl gesticulating and facial expressing, but with no sound, which meant that you could look away and stop reading.

Initial D (頭文字D, also known as Initial D The Movie, and as Initial D - Drift Racer in some parts of the world) is a 2005 Hong Kong film directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak. It is a film adaptation of the Japanese Initial D manga. It adapts up to when Takumi Fujiwara joins Project D, although it differs drastically from both the anime and manga.A majority of the car scenes in the film are done with no CGI, as the directors wanted an authentic feel. The directors also wanted the actors to drive the cars as much as possible in order to further this. D Company Movie Review - Its real-life connection with some background details provides some intrigue, and that’s it.
What Is the Film About? As the title suggests, D Company is about the rise of the underworld company with the name headed by Dawood Ibrahim (Ashwat Kanth). The movie focuses on his rise in ranks among the many goons of Mumbai. How Is Ashwat Kanth’s Performance? Ram Gopal Varma has an uncanny ability to choose actors who are close to the parts they essay. It is more so when the movie involves a real-life figure. Things are no different with D Company, where Ashwat Kanth plays the lead role.Right from the start, the unknown trivia related to the main characters manages to grab attention. It mostly comes through the voice-over and how it is narrated with deadpan humour (in parts) by RGV. The actual film and making aren’t that engaging. Instead, they come across as routine content seen across gangster movies.Another thing that can’t be missed is the way, Ram Gopal Varma manages to bring Godfather connection to his gangster (or powerful people) subjects. From Gaayam to Sarkar to Rann to Rakta Charitra, and now D Company RGV finds a way to brings elements of the legendary movie into his work.
